Frequently Asked Questions

Why wont the blades engage on my lawn mower blades?

When the clutch solenoid is energized, the clutch engages the drive belt to drive the rotation of the lawn mower blades. If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable—if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.

What happens if the pulley on a lawn mower does not spin freely?

If a pulley doesn’t spin freely, it can cause the engine to die when the blades are engaged. To check the pulleys for sticking and damage, first remove the drive belt from the engine pulley and lift the lever to engage the blades. When you engage the deck lever, it releases the blade brakes, allowing the spindles to be spun by hand.

How do you disengage a lawn mower blade?

Disengage the cutting blades. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key. Wear work gloves to protect your hands. Lift the tractor hood and disconnect the spark plug wire.

Are zero turn mowers any good?

The best feature of zero turn mowers is that you can disengage the blades going over curbs and other things you don't want to cut. But when your riding mower blades won't spin, you might as well be driving a forklift or a dune buggy.
