The National Firearms Act (“NFA”) makes it a criminal offense for any person to receive, possess, or transfer a firearm that is not registered to that person. 26 U.S.C. § 5861. VIOLATION OF THE NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT IS A FELONY OFFENSE, PUNISHABLE BY UP TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON AND A $10,000 FINE. 26 U.S.C. § 5871.
