So, how much does a Texas fishing license actually cost? Like many other states, Texas has varying prices for each of the many different kinds of licenses offered there including for fishing. However, a Texas fishing license is relatively cheap in comparison to other states. On average it costs $30 to $40.
Any fish taken from public water and landed by boat or person in Texas must adhere to the length limits and daily bag and possession limits established for those fish in Texas regardless of the state or country in which they were caught.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says they offer free fishing to increase everyone’s opportunity to experience fishing for the first time.
Make sure you are within park boundaries when fishing without a license. All other regulations such as size limits, bag limits, and mandatory tags still apply. Resident and non-resident anglers under the age of 17 do not need to buy a TX fishing license.
