Reforming Qatar’s Labour Laws. The Government of the State of Qatar has implemented major labour reforms in the past few years, including: Minimum wage. In March 2021, Qatar introduced a minimum wage of QAR 1,000, which applies to all employees across all sectors in Qatar, including domestic workers.
According to gratuity rules in Qatar, It is the sum of money an employer is lawfully required to pay an employee upon the termination of the employment relationship. Gratuity payment in Qatar is subject to the employee satisfying certain conditions that are set out in the Qatari Labour Law.
Law No (14) of 2004 (Labour Law) governs the terms of employment of the majority of employees currently working in Qatar. The Labour Law sets out the ways in which an employee’s employment can be terminated. Employment may be terminated with or without any reason being given on the part of the terminating party.
In 2015, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued law no 21 for 2015 regarding Regulation of the Expatriates Entry, Departure, and Residence. Here are the explanations for the main articles in the law.
