The Pennsylvania Code is an official publication of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It contains regulations and other documents filed with the Legislative Reference Bureau under the act of July 31, 1968 (P. L. 769, No. 240) (45 P. S. §§ 1102, 1201—1208 and 1602) and 45 Pa.C.S.
Enacted in 2012, the Public Library Code provides laws related to the State Library of Pennsylvania and public libraries in Pennsylvania (24 PA. C.S. Education. Chapter 93.) The Pennsylvania Code contains library regulations (22 PA Code §§ 131 - 143.)
The legal system of Pennsylvania is based on the common law of England, and Pennsylvania has a reception statute providing for the "reception" of English law. All statutes, regulations, and ordinances are subject to judicial review.
There are both official versions produced by the State and commercial versions of both, Chronological version of laws as passed by the Pennsylvania legislature. Free version available from the PA General Assembly.
