You are not allowed to breed, sell, or own any non-domestic animals. And then there are states like Massachusetts where you simply cannot own an exotic animal of any kind. Beyond federal, state, and local laws, there is the matter of liability. How much insurance do you need and what are you liable for if your snake escapes?
Missouri state law still provides that it is a violation of state law to possess, manufacture, transport, repair, or sell a “switchblade in violation of federal law.”
Minnesota MINN. STAT. 346.155 lists various animals considered to be ‘regulated animals,’ which includes big cats, bears, and primates. However, since snakes are not listed, you can legally keep venomous snakes, provided that you have a permit to do so.
