Maryland is fully compliant with the REAL ID law. To get a REAL ID compliant driver’s license, you need to visit the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) with documents in the following categories: Proof of Age and Identity. Proof of Social Security. Proof of Residential Address.
Maryland Identification Cards. If you live in Maryland but do not have a driver's license, you can use a Maryland ID card as your photo identification to prove your identity, age or address. This page explains how to apply, renew and replace your Maryland ID card, fees, changing your name or address, and more.
You must also surrender any out-of-state card (ID card or driver's license) before a Maryland ID can be issued. You may wish to receive an ID card instead of a temporary driver's license if you have been stopped by a police officer who suspected you of driving impaired.
