There are several rules that are helpful when working with exponential functions. Law of Exponents: The first law states that to multiply two exponential functions with the same base, we simply add the exponents. The second law states that to divide two exponential functions with the same base, we subtract the exponents.

Basic exponent laws and rules. When exponents that share the same base are multiplied, the exponents are added. When an exponent is negative, the negative sign is removed by reciprocating the base and raising it to the positive exponent.

We will look at the exponential formula or rather the sets of them, study their applications on the basis of the exponent rules. In mathematics, there is a concept of exponents. It is derived from the idea of multiplication.

Simplify the product of exponential expressions left ( { {x^6}} ight)left ( { {x^2}} ight). We are multiplying two exponentials with the same base, x. The product allows us to combine them by copying the common base, and then adding their exponents.
