The moral law is eternal and inherently good (Mat. 5:18 and Rom. 7:12), whereas civil and ceremonial laws are not so described (Rom. 10:4, Heb. 7:13; John 8:1-11). The Ten Commandments, and every explanation as to their ambit (including Lev. 18:22; 20:13, Deut. 22:5; 23:17, for example) continue to be, and forever will be, binding upon every responsible …

God's Law is a permanent and eternal entity. Because of its everlasting guideposts, people can order their lives by it; it is intended for human benefit, and should be used for illumination. For an example, the weather; we cannot change the weather whenever we want or however we want. The weather is God!'s made nature and something we humans cannot control. Another good example for eternal law would be gravity.

This eternal law is also what the ordering of everything is based on. He also believes that when one pursues his or her life based on eternal things, such as truth, knowledge, and love, then they are living a life under eternal law.
Augustine explains that eternal law bases its standards on God and He is the ruler of this law; this law is the law by which God rules all creation. It can also be characterized as the “divine reason or the will of God, a will which enjoins the natural order” (Fitzgerald & Cavadini, 583).
