Economics major graduating from any college beyond the top 25-30 is probably is not necessarily a bad deal because of gained quantitative skills. But if a student can obtain an economics degree from only a non-top college then the best to do it for low annual tuition – less than 10k-15k in annual tuition. A math-oriented economics major is likely to switch to another career anyway and become either financial or business analyst, actuary, accountant, or even programmer.
